"For my father Jim Hood, Cherokee name Jim Oostek. For my two Half sisters, Mary Chambers and Nancy Chambers, also their father Charlie Chambers. For my fathers brothers Richard Hood and Tillman Hood. For my grandfather Sunday Downing and his brother Louis Downing. For Barrah Hood my father's half brither."

Attached to Elizabeth's Miller Application is a letter dated Feb. 2nd 1909 from the Special Commissioner:
Madam:
Relative to your application for participation in the Eastern Cherokee fund, please answer the following questions and forward same to this office at once:
What year was your father, Jim Hood, born?
Name the brothers of your father?
Who were the parents of your father? Explain why your father is known as Hood when by your application his parents were known by a different name?
Do you claim any Indian Blood from your mother, Lydia Hood?
Does your father get his Indian blood from his father or his mother?

Elizabeth returns the answers, to the above letter, with a deposition made and signed by Emma Filmore, her sister. Subscribed and sworn to before me at Porum, Okla. this 24 day of Mar. 1909: H. C. Black; Asst. to the Special Commissioner of the U. S. Court of Claims

"Emma Filmore being first duly sworn deposes and says that I was born in 1851. My fathers name was James Hood. He had two full brothers by the name of Dick and Tillman Hood. I do not know who my grant father was but I have been told that his name was Sunday Downing. EMMIT STARR told me that my grand fathers name was SUNDAY DOWNING. My grand mother and my mother were white women. My father had a half brother by the name of John Hood. He was enrolled as an Old Settler. He had no children and I drew his old settler money in 1894. I was told that my father was living in Can. district, but that he was enrolled in Seqyoyah in 1851. My father raised his brother Dick. I do not know where he was enrolled. My father went by the name of his mothers second husband, who was the father of John Hood, the old settler. See S. B. #61? Will this group with 10793?"
