Sampson Pope's will was written in 1788 and filed in Edgefield Co, SC
Probate records Box 43 Pkg 1805. It was recorded in Book B, p. 125&126 on
May 30, 1804.

In the name of God, amen, I Sampson Pope of SC and Edgefield Co. being in
perfect health, do make this my last will and testament.
I lend all and singular my whole Estate to my loving wife Susanna Pope,
freely by her to be enjoy'd during her natural life, and after her decease
to be disposed of in the following manner. To wit:
I give to my son Solomon Poper one negro wench named [B_] lost in margin
I give to my son Jacob Pope five dollars
I given to my grandson Sampson Pope, two negro fellows one named Luke and
the other named Jo; and also my plantation and stock with all household
furniture.
And I do appoint my grandson Sampson Pope and my son Jacob Pope my sole
executors of this my LWT in withness whereof I have set my hand and seal
this 22 day of July, 1788. Signed by a very shaky hand (almost unreadable)
