Micajah THOMAS, , Sr.:

Notes:

Captain John Thomas and one of John Cotton's daughters who was John Thomas' wife, had a son named MICAJAH born 2/13/1725. He married Colonel Benjamin Hawlcins' (U.S. Senator) sister, ANN. Micajah Thomas Jr. represented Nash County in the General Assembly 1784-87. He died 9/1788. He gave, in his will, legacies to Bennett, George Boddie and Solomon Cotton. Solomon was the son of James Cotton and grandson of John Cotton.

Branch) then north 45 west 213 poles to the center of three trees then north 45 east 300 poles to a pine then south 45 east

My Note (BJC): According to Virginia Historical Genealogies, by John Bennett Boddie, 1954: Thomas- Isle of Wight County Virginia and Nash County N. C., page 219: Micajah Thomas' Bible is now in the possesion of Mrs. Jenkins Cooper of Nashville, NC. "Captain Micajah Thomas deceased NOVEMBER 14, 1769" He did not make his will until 04 Dec 1769.

Wife: Mourning-side saddle and bridle, beds, Negroes Penezer and his wife Moll and their two sons Penezer and Ben, also Isaac and his wife Venus, also Lidia, Allick, Broomfield, Peter and his wife Jenny, also Ned, Jacob, Sam, Henry, all for her lifetime or widowhood, also lend her the use of my plantation where I now live as well as the use of another plantation on the Tar River I bought of THOMAS HERSEY, also the use of another plantation I bought from Thomas Pollard, for her lifetime or widowhood.

Dau: Bathsheba-Negroes Bossom and his wife Kate, Abraham, Hazzard, Addo, Rose, Violet, Dina, Jeffrey, Jesse, Jenny, and two tracts of land I bought of William Harrin on Peachtree Creek containing 1340 acres, also another tract I bought of Willoughby Tucker containing 200 acres on Back Swamp, also a tract I bought of Peter Hedgepeth on the Back Swamp containing 100 acres, also a tract I entered and surveyed adj. the land I bought from Hedgepeth but not deeded, also a tract on the drains of Back Swamp, and Pig Basket (Pig Basket was near Stony Creek in Nash County), entered and surveyed but not deeded, also a tract I bought of Joshua Wombell containing 700 acres lying on a ridge, also a tract I bought of Thomas Richardson containing 560 acres also my cattle at the plantation I bought of Hardiman, and Harris.

Son: Micajah all my lands not already mentioned, also Negroes Cambridge, Lewis, Cull, Bob, Will, Tonny, Mitchel, Dick, Sam called Sam Murdin, and Sambo.

Son: Micajah-all my store goods and reversion of all Negroes and furniture loaned to my wife.
