STAFFORD COUNTY VA DEED & WILL BOOK 1699 - 1709; THE ANTIENT PRESS pp. 257- 259 To all Christian People .. Know ye that I THOMAS NORMAN & ELIZA. my wife of Stafford County in ye Domn. of Virga. for divers good causes & considerations us thereunto moving but more especially for the sum of 8500 pounds of Tobo. by us in hand already reced of GEORGE CROSBE of Northumberland County .. have sold parcel of land containing 200 acres being in Stafford County & on North side of Acokeek main run being 200 acres of land which was by me Thomas Norman given & assigned to my wife Eliza. in fee by deed bearing date the 7th day June 1698 & was by me acknowledged in the County Court of Stafford on ye 8th day June aforesaid .. the 200 acres being part of a tract of 1300 acres or thereabouts granted to me by Pattent out of Proprietors office in this northern Neck of Vira. .. Beginning at the mouth ot a stony run which divides this land from the land of Mr. JOHN ADAMS & runs thence northerly by the line of said Adams to the Back line of the dividend thence down the back line to the land of RICHARD ROUT then along Routs line to Acokeek main run then up the same according to the meanders thereof to the first beginning ., this 10th day March 1704/5.

Will of George Crosby, Sr., December 14, 1725
In the name of God Amen, I George Crosby, Senr of the Parish of Overwarton in the County of Stafford, being well in body and perfect memory, Praise be to God for the same, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following.
Imprimis, I bequeath my new dwelling plantation unto George Crosby, the son of my son Daniel Crosby, with all the land thereunto belonging, also the Plantation whereon William Wood now dwells with all the land thereunto belonging as also one young mulatto slave named Will, all which is to be delivered to him at the eighteenth year of his age, together with a gun, and in case the said George should die ere the expiration of the said term that then it may be for the next heir at law.
Item, I bequeath unto the said George and to his sister Sarah Crosby to be equally divided between them 200 ells of fine ___ and 2__ ells of Brown Linen, two new feather beds, two new rungs, two new pairs of blankets, two new pairs of sheets, two good boulsters, two good iron potts, and pott and hooks, two frying pans, six Pewter dishes and six Pewter Bassons, the dishes each weighing four pounds and bassons each to hold a Gallon, four peices of serge, four cows and four calves; all which they are to receive at the eighteenth year of their age and if either of them dies that then whoever of them lives shall enjoy the whole and if both dies ere then, that it may be for the next at law.
Item, I bequeath one horse of three or four years old with a saddle and bridle for the said George at the same year of his age above written.
Item, I bequeath unto my son George the Plantation whereon he now dwelleth, also old negro Will and Indian Ben (?).
Item, I bequeath unto George Crosby, Jr., the son of my son George, one Indian Mulatta woman, Frankie, and her increase as also one Indian Mulatta boy John Cooper, also one half of the last parcell of land taken up by me on Town Run, and his heirs forever, and the other half unto Peter Mozee and if in case that the said Peter dies then Sarah Crosby, the daughter of my son Daniel, shall enjoy the same and her Lawful heirs; also that George is to have the half next the Town and Peter his next to Negroe Run (?).
Item, I bequeath unto Sarah Hayes two pieces of Dowlas, each containing fifty old ells.
Item, I bequeath unto Peter Hayes all all and every of the parcell of ground first taken up by me on Brent Town Run and if in case that he dies without lawfull issue, then it must be divided between both my grandsons, the two Georges.
Item, I bequeath unto Mary Waa my daughter, one thousand waight of Tobacco, also one thousand weight of tobacco to each of her tree children, namely William Mountjoy, Peter Mosee and Eliza Mosee.
Item, I bequeath all of the rest of my estate, both real and partiall, unto my executor hereinafter mentioned and none of it to be brought to an appraisement.
Item, I do hereby make my son George Crosby sole heir and Executor of this my Last Will and Testament utterly revoking and disannulling all other wills by me made before, allowing and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In Witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th of September 1725.

At a court held for Stafford Co. the Fourteenth Day of April 1731 the last will and testament of George Crosby was presented in Court by George Crosby the executor named therein who made oath thereto according to law and being proved by the oathe of Wm.Allen, Sarah Allen and James McDonnell the witnesses thereunto it is admitted to record and a certificate granted him obtaining a Probate thereof in due form by giving sufficient security.
