Indenture between Sir Giles Capell, of Little Reygne in county Essex, knight, of the one part , and James Dormer, gent, one of the sons of Sir Michael Dormer, knight , late Alderman of London, deceased of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Dormer has bargained and sold to the said Sir Giles all those lands, tenements, meadows, called Oxenheyes, Hornecroft,Teyes and otherwise, which were late of the said Sir Michael Dormer, and are now in the tenure of Sir Giles Capell, lying in Little Reigne and Bockyng, to hold to the said Sir Giles and his heirs for ever. The said John Dormer covenants that he and his heirs and
Elizabeth his wife, before the feast of All Saints next coming, will make to the said Sir Giles and his heirs, a good and sufficient estate in the law in fee simple, of all the said premises at the cost of the said Sir Giles also that he and Ambrose Dormer, William Dormer, Geoffrey Dormer, and Thomas Dormer, sons of the said Sir Michael, shall within the next 3 years, do all lawful acts and deeds, by fine, feoffment, recovery or release, for the further assurance of all the said premises of the said Sir Giles

Memorandum that the 27th day of November, 3 Edw. VI. we Anthony Brown, and William Bendlowes. gentlemen of the counsel, learned in the law, of Sir Giles Capell, knight, and at the request of the said Sir Giles shall purchase a writ of covenant against John Ambrose, William, Geoffrey, Thomas Dormer, gentlemen, of all those lands, tenements, meadows, &c , called Oxenhayes, Horncroft, Tayes and otherwise, which late were of Sir Michael Dormer , knight , and late were in tenure of the said Sir Giles, lying in Little Rayne and Bockyng in county Essex, which writ shall be brought of the said premises by the name of 60 acres of land, 20 acres of meadow and 60 acres of pasture in Little Rayne and Bockyng: all which said premises the said John Dormer lately sold to the said Sir Giles, as by indentures made between them, dated 16th April, 2 Edw. VI .more fully appears, which said writ shall be directed to the sheriff of Essex , returnable before the Justices of the Common Bench at Westminster in Hilary term next, and there the said John Dormer and others shall personally appear and acknowledge the said premises to be the right of the said Sir Giles , and shall release them to him and his heirs .

Michael Dormer, of London , Knight , Alderman and Mercer of London ', 17th September 1545. My body to be buried in the church - yard of St. Lawrence in the Jury in London ,
where Elizabeth my wife lyeth . To every one of my brother Peter's children xl .; to Elizabeth , my brother Edward's daughter, xl.; to my sister, Elizabeth Towley, vil. xius. vid . and every of her children , vil. xiis. vind . To Thomas Dormer, my eldest son, all my lands in Heydon, Maston, and Water Eton, with remainder to his heirs . To William Dormer, my son, and his heirs, all my lands in the parishes of Tame, Aston, Stoke Church, Rowson, Downford, Sowthorne, Hepall Aston, Wendlebury, Ilberry, Wykham, Kirtillon, Dorton, and Coynton, in Oxfordshire, except my part of my manor of Coyndon, which I bought of my Lord Marquess of Dorset; remainder to my son Walter Dormer; remainder to my daughter, Jane Stapulton .
I constitute Katherine, my wife, and John Dormer iny son, my executors; and my cousin, Sir Robert Dormer, Knt. and Anthony Stapulton, overseers . Proved 2d October 1545 .
· He was the third son of Geoffrey Dormer, the ancestor of the Right Honourable Lord Dormer. In 1529 he served the office of Sheriff of London, and was Lord Mayor thereof in 1541, and died 20th Sept.1545

Abstracts or Inquisitiones Post Mortem relating to the City of London, Fry, George S.,( London, 1896), p 58
Sir Michael Dormer, Knight Inquisition taken at the Guildhall, 23 October, 38 Henry VIII (1546).....So seised, the said MIchael Dormer made his will, whereby he decalred that Lady Katherine Dormer, his wife, should immediately after his death have the said capital messuage and garden in the said parish of St. Lawrence, so long as she should keep herself sole and unmarried: if she married again, then she should only have the said premises for one year after her said marriage. To John Dormer, his son, the said MIchael bequeathed all other his messuages, lands, etc., within the city of London, immediately after his death; also the said capital messuage after the death or re-marriages of the said Lady Katherine; to hold him and his heirs male. If the said John died without heirs of his body begotton, then all the premises should remain to Ambrose Dormer, son of the said MIchael, and his heirs male; for default, the remainder thereof to William Dormer, son of the said Michael, and his heirs male; and for default, the remainder to Jeffery Dormer and his heirs male, with divers remainders over.
Michael Dormer died 20 September, 37 Henry VIII [1545]; Thomas Dormer is his son and next heir, and is now aged 40 years and more.
