VI. William, m. Mrs. Elizabetii Caufield of Surry County. She was Elizabeth Allen, sister of Arthur Allen of Surry. He was a vestryman of the old brick church of Smithfield 1724-1730; was Colonel of the Isle of White County Militia and was a member of the House of Burgesses in 1718.
Colonel Bridger made his will as "Col. William Bridger", 27 September, 1730, and same was probated 23 November, 1730.

Colonel Bridger made his will as "Col. William Bridger", 27 September, 1730, and same was probated 23 November, 1730. He leaves his grandson Joseph Bridger one-half dozen silver spoons marked E. A. A. (evidently from thc Allen family) others mentioned were, his son Joseph, deceased, and entrusts his son James to the guardianship of Arthur Smith, Jr. and Elizabeth his wife, and also leaves to Mrs. Elizabeth Smith a dozen china
tea-cups. Also mentions son William and makes Arthur Smith sole executor.

3. William, oldest son, made his will in 1732. He married Martha, daughter of Colonel Arthur Smith. He had an only son, Joseph, who is mentioned in his father's will.

Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography, Vol I, Burgesses and Other Prominent Persons, p 195, On-Line Genealogy Library database: ?Bridger, Colonel William, of White Marsh, son of Colonel Joseph Bridger, of the council, was born in Isle of Wight county, in 1678, married Elizabeth Allen, daughter of Major Arthur Allen, of Surry, was a burgess for Isle of Wight county, 1714, 1718 and 1720-22. His will was proved in Isle of Wight county November 23, 1730. He left a son William, whose son Joseph was a burgess, and a son James, who was also a burgess.
