SIXTEENTH GENERATION
65. RALPH18 STANDISH of Standish, Esquire, lord of the manor of Standish, 1507-1538, son of Sir Alexander and Sibyl (de Bold) Standish of Standish, was born in 1479 and he died in 1538. He married about August 16, 1497 (more likely 1498), Alice Harington, who survived her husband, one of the daughters and coheiresses of Sir James Harington of Blackrod and Westleigh, Lancashire, and of Wolfage and Brixworth, County North hampton, whose wife was Isabella Radcliffe, daughter of Sir Alexander Radcliffe of Ordsall. (VCH Lanc. VI 195).
In 1497, Sir Thomas Ashton covenanted with Sir Alexander Standish that a marriage be solemnized between Alice, daughter and coheiress of Sir James Harington, Knight, and Ralph son and heir apparent of the said Sir Alexander Standish. ( SD 182 ) . In a marriage settlement, dated August 16, 1497, between Sir Thomas Ashton, Knight, and Sir Alexander Standish, Knight, it was agreed that Ralph Standish, son and heir apparent of the said Sir Alexander, should take to wife Alice daughter of Sir James Harington, Knight. Sir Alexander settled Longryding, &c. upon his son. (SD 183).

77. Anne Standish, (b. ca. 1500), m. 3 Nov. 1518, Sir John Holcroft of Holcroft, Knt, son of John and Elizabeth Holcroft of Holcroft. (An enfeoffment from Sir William Booth, &c. to Alexander, son and heir apparent to Ralph Standish, Esquire, and other feoffees of lands, &c. in Bandyn, Baviscorne and Hertford in Cheshire, for the use of Anne daughter of Ralph Standish, Esq. married to John son and heir apparent of John Holcroft. Dated 3 November 1518. (SD 246). A bond of covenants from Ralph Standish, Esq., to John Holcroft whose son had married Anne, daughter of the said Ralph Standish. Dated 1518/9. Also the marriage settlement. (SD 244, 245). Their daughter Alice18 Holcroft was living in 1534 and was named in her grandfather's will. (SD 299).
