John R. “Bobby” Cotton
EASTOVER — Funeral services for Mr. John R. “Bobby” Cotton, 76, of Eastover, will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Lebanon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Eddie Usher officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Young, Danny Young, Jerry Cotton, Jr., Gregory Nunn, Tripp Williams, Jamie Schaufler, Claytor Young and Harry Young. Honorary pallbearers will be the Breakfast Club. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic honors. The family will receive friends at Greenlawn Funeral Home Monday evening, March 6 from 6:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lebanon United Methodist Church Building Fund, 10220 Garners Ferry Road, Eastover, SC 29044.

Mr. Cotton passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006, at his residence. Born on February 14, 1930, he was the son of the late D. Bynum Cotton and Eva Mae Coward Cotton. Mr. Cotton had retired from SCE&G and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and a member of Lower Richland Masonic Lodge 406. His life’s passions were his church, his family, his friends and fishin’. He never met a stranger and was loved by all.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty Jo McCabe Cotton of Eastover; two daughters, JoAnn Amick and her husband, Bryan, of Prosperity and Jenny Alvey and her husband, H. Rion, of Winnsboro; two sons, John Robert Cotton, Jr. and his wife, Shari, and Jerry Bynum Cotton, Sr. and his wife, Gale; two sisters, Lucille Wilson of Hopkins, Edith Young of Columbia; one brother, Tommy Cotton of Lexington; grandchildren, Jerry B. Cotton, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, Rebecca Ann Cotton, Ashley Nicole Williams, Brittany Michelle Williams, Tripp Williams, Laura Hughes Alvey, Sarah Hampton Alvey, Jaime Schaulfer and his wife, Liz, and Ashley Bryan Amick and his wife, Robin; great-grandchildren, Austin Cotton, Michael Hartley, Elizabeth Schaufler, Dylan Schaufler, Courtney Michelle Amick and Ashley Bryan Amick, Jr. “A.J”.

Mr. Cotton was predeceased by his sister, Sally Emma James and his brother, Daniel Bynum Cotton.
