Whereas by deed of gift under the hand and Seale of Ann Harwood the Relickt and Administratrix of Captaine Thomas Harwood Esq deceaded, did in the time of her widdowhood, make over unto her Three children Sixteen Cowes, Six Oxen, Eight twoo yeare old chattle [cattle], Six yearlings and Eight Calves, with one Mare about four years of age, one Gelding, one horse colt, together with five Ned[ros] viz. Jack, Joan, and Ralph, with twoo Negro Children, And whereas the sd willm whitaker being appointed by the Court to receive and Take into my possession the aforesaid chattle [cattle] and Negroes, know all men by these psents that I y'e said willm whitaker, doe acknowledge to have recd of Henery Blagrave who intermarryed wth the aforesd Ann, all the above named Chattle[cattle] mencioned in the said Deed of figt (excepting twoo Calves) together with one gelding and five Negroes, And doe hereby acquit & Discharge the said Blagrave from ye said Deed of gift, except for Such things as are before excepted, That is to say three Calves, one Mare and one horse Colt, Witness my hand this Twoo and Twentieth Day of January Anno Dom 1653 witness Robert Piland Cler:
