Sept. 7, 1847 —Julius C. Cotton represents that his mother Elizabeth Cotton died about Aug. 26, 1847, leaving heirs: Martha Cotton wife of William Holley of W. Feliciana Parish, Seaborn Cotton, Alazarus B. Cotton, Julius C. Cotton, Sampson H. Cotton (all of age), and Elijah D. Cotton, a minor.

Sept. 9, 1847 - Family meeting recommends that William Sullivan be appointed
tutor to Elijah D. Cotton with Julius C. Cotton under-tutor.

Sept. 11, 1847 - Inv. held at the residence of Julius G. Cotton, being the last place of residence of Mrs. Elizabeth Cotton decd. Julius G. Cotton appointed administrator of the succession of the decd.
