This Indenture made this the 14th day of December in the year of our Lord 1795 Between SAMUEL RUFFIN ALIAS O'QUINN of Edgecombe County and the State of NC of the one part and Thos. Peelle of the county and state afores'd of the other part (Witnesseth) that the sd. land......RUFFIN ALIAS O'QUINN for an in consideration of the sum of one hundred seventy four pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid hath bargained given granted and sold, et. 200 acres. It being the land and plantation formerly belonging to ETHELDRED RUFFIN dec'd,who by his last will and testament bequeathed unto his son JOHN RUFFIN ALIAS O'QUINN and my sd RUFFIN bequeathed unto his son land SAMUEL RUFFIN ALIAS O'QUINN etc.

February 23, 1769, Etheldred Ruffin of Northampton County to son Frederick Ruffin alias O'Quinn 200 acres on the north side of Little Swamp.

Northampton f the one part and Frederick Ruffin alias O'Quinn of the aforesaid Province and County of Edgecombe of the other part etcl sum of two hundred and forty pounds proclamation money of NC in hand etc. north side of Indian Swamp containing 200 acres.

Sept. 19, 1771 Etheldred Ruffin and Martha his wife and Frederick Ruffin alias O'Quinn and Mary his wife to Saml Daughtry...north side of Little Swamp 200 acres

January 19, 1791 Joseph Ruffin alias O'Qunn John Stringer 100 acres on south side of lll? Lamon Ruffin and Joseph Stringer.

Frederick Ruffin alias O'Quinn died in Edgecombe County in 1778 leaving
three sons Samuel, William and Etheldred Ruffin alias O'Quinn.

The will of Lydia Cotten, probated in Northampton Co. 17--,mentions among others daughter Elizabeth Ruffin Alias O'Quinn , to sd daughter one negro woman and two boys named Dial and Jack, on her decease Frederick Ruffin alias O'Quinn shall have the boy Dial and grandson James Ruffin alias O'Quinn to have Jack.
