William Mathis dec"d. Copy of will exibited in Wilkes Co Court but recorded in Putnum Co. Date of Will, June 4, 1816, proved Mch 6, 1820. Mentions wife Winifred. To daus, Mary Ringo, Anna Flinn, Legacy to heirs of Elizabeth Bird. Residue to be divided among James Mathis, Robert, William, Nathaniel, Polly and Nancy Ringo. Legacy to Sally and Margaret Williamson. Thomas and William Mathis exrs. James Mathis of Limestone Co., Ala., formerly of Wilkes Co., states he is an heir of William Mathis, dec., that after the death of Winifred (widow) he appt. Charles Smith to receive his share.
