(Nov 1825) Estate records - Petition for year's provisions by the widow ELIZABETH COTTEN, stating JOHN COTTEN died in Nov. 1825. Year's provisions alloted 27 Dec 1825.
(Mar 18, 1826) Estate records - Petition by SPENCER D. COTTEN, stating that in April 1825 the dec'd (JOHN COTTEN) bought certain negroes and other property of his brother HENRY COTTEN and then removed to Tennessee and died intestate there in October 1825. SPENCER D. COTTEN was appointed his administrator. The said HENRY COTTEN is about to move to Tennessee and is insolvent and has requested a settlement of the said purchase.
