Notes:
MARK HEATH IS DEAD.
Another Collin County Boy Dies in The Service.
The folllowing Telegram which is self-explanatory was received here Thursday morning:
Miami, Fla. Aug 4, 1898Dr. W. T. Moore,McKinney, Tex.Mark Heath dead. Typhoid fever. Shall we bury here or will people bear expense home. Hundred and fifty dollars.
McCarty Moore.
How many more just such sad messages will greet our ears before the boys come home. Mark was 23 years of age, and the son of Mrs. Telitha Jamison who resides about 3 miles west of McKinney. When he left here he was stout and healthy, the very picture of robust manhood. He left here to join the army at Dallas and was sent to Mobile to Co. C (Tresevant Rifles) 2nd Texas Volunteer infantry. He had been sick in the hospital at Miami for some time before his death. He is well known in McKinney and every one who knew him say he was a good boy, and many sympathies are extended to the bereaved mother, brothers and sisters in this sad hour of aflliction. Let us hope that we shall not be called upon again to mourn the death of any of our brave boys who have so nobly gone forth to shed honor and glory about the flag.
