July 28, 1853 - Pet. of Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson, nee Cotton, shows that her husband Anderson Cotton died leaving the following minor children: Jane Cotton, Louis Cotton, Benjamin Curtis Cotton.
Aug. 29, 1863 - Inv. of estate of Anderson Cotton deed: 211 acres being
the homestead tract; fractional section 25 T . . R4 containing 44.6 acres;
plus various personal. Total estate 81188.75.
Oct. 24, 1863 —Sale: homestead purchased by Mrs. Elizabeth Cotton,
surviving widow of decd; fractional section by Thomas Benton. ,
Dec. 2, 1865 - Martha Caroline Kinchen appointed tutrix for John Presley
Cotton.
July 30,.1867 - Martha C. Cotton appoints Thomas Jones her "P of A" relative
to the settlement of the estate of Anderson Cotton decd.
July 31, 1867 - Pet. of Mrs. Louisa Cotton, wife of Henry S. Bradford of Washington Parish, represents that her father Anderson Cotton died in St.
Helena Parish; that Mr. Riley is administrator and had presented final account.
She desires partition. Her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Curtis, widow of Anderson
Cotton decd, is entitled to 1/2 of the succession; co-heirs are: Mrs. Jane
Cotton, widow of D. Jenkins decd; Benjamin and Louis Cotton both minors, represented by their tutrix Mrs. Elizabeth Cotton; and John Cotton minor son of Jacob Cotton decd, represented by his mother Mrs. Martha.C. Cotton, his natural tutrix.
