WINNSBORO — Funeral services for W. Earl Cotton will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2005, at the graveside in Oaklawn Cemetery conducted by Bishop Woodrow Cotton. Visitation will follow immediately after the service. Memorials may be made to Washington Street Baptist Church, 401 N. Vanderhorst St., Winnsboro, SC 29180 or to a charity of one’s choice. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Cotton, 86, died Monday, March 7, 2005. Born July 10, 1918, in Winnsboro, he was a son of the late Thomas Lee Cotton and Carrie McFadden Cotton and was the widower of Thelma B. Cotton.
He had been employed at UniRoyal, Inc. for forty years as Supervisor of Heating, Air and Humidity. He had served his country during World War II as a tail gunner in the Army Air Corps, flying thirty-five missions.
Mr. Cotton had been an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing his catch with his many fishing buddies.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda C. Castles of Columbia; grandson, Paul E. Castles of Lake Wateree; great-granddaughter, Emma Louise Castles of Lake Wateree.
Mr. Cotton was predeceased by three brothers.
