Death of Soldier Boy
John Hood, 19 year old son of Mr. & Mrs. Sterling Hood, living near Carr Creek, died last week at Camp Logon, Colo. following an attack of pneumonia. He had enlisted as a volunteer a month previously and contracted the desease on his first hike. He was a most excellent young man and just recently completed a military course at Haskell Institute, Laurence Kansas. The remains arrived in Checotah Wednesday noon accompanied by Lieut. Densmore. Funeral services were held that afternon at Carr Creek Cemetery where the remains were laid to rest with military honors. Rev. E. D. Cameron of theis city conducted the services.
This is the second son Mr. & Mrs. Hood have lost from death in the army. They had six sons in the service of Uncle Sam, four of whom are still doing duty.
