Mary Ann 'Polly' DOBBS:

Notes:

"The marriage bond between Mary A. Dobbs and Marcus Foster lists her mother as Elizabeth Foster. Elizabeth Foster was shown in the Wayne Co. KY 1850 Census as the wife (20 years old) of James Foster, and in the household was a 4 year old girl named Polly A.
( Marriage records in Wayne Co. KY, show that James Foster and Elizabeth Dobbs were married 29 Feb. 1849).
---
Mary Ann 'Polly' Dobbs was given her mother's maiden name: The birth record for Elizabeth and James Foster's son, Henderson states the following:
Kentucky Birth Records, 1852-1910
Name: Henderson Foster, Birth Date: Nov 1856, Birth County: Wayne
Ethnicity: White, Gender: Male
Father's Name: James Foster, Mother's Name: ELIZABETH DOBBS
County of Residence: Wayne
---
In the 1860 census, Mary Ann Dobbs was shown as a 14 year old female domestic in the household of Peter and Margaret Burk. (Peter and Margaret had no known children). H T Burk signed Mary Ann's Marriage Bond with Marcus. H. T. Burk is Hudson (Hutson) Burk son of Allen Burk. Allen Burk, b. 1803 Virginia, appears to be a brother to Peter Burk.

Peter Burk's will, signed August 17, 1876 named Polly Ann, wife of Marcus, as heir to all his land. On the September 21, 1883 the land was deeded to Marcus and Polly A. ( I have a copy of the deed).

On October 11, 1883, Marcus and Polly Ann sold some or all of the property to William Kidd for $800."

(above are the notes from Charlie R. Blaine, son of Mattie (Foster) Cotton Blaine and Charlie R. Blaine, Sr. )
