REV. WILLIAM RILEY MERIDETH AND LOU ELLER TUCKER

Rev. William Riley Merideth was born, 07 February 1872 in Huntsville, Madison County, Arkansas and died 30 April 1964 in McAlester, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. On 09 October 1894 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas he married Lou Eller Tucker. She who was born 22 May 1878 in Webb City, Franklin County, Arkansas and died 24 March 1968 in McAlester, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. Both are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. Many sources have Lou Eller Tucker's name as 'Lou Ellen'. She did name a daughter 'Lou Ellen'. Her tombstone reads 'Lou Eller' and her daughter Minnie Caroline Merideth always referred to her as 'Lou Eller'.
William and Lou Eller Merideth had the following children: Perilee, Minnie Caroline, William Franklin, Vernon Curtis, Myrtle, Jewel, Agnes Clementine, Pansy O'Eva, and Wilma Marie. On 08 December 1923 William became an Ordained Baptist Minister.
William and Lou Eller Tucker moved from Arkansas to Pittsburg County, Oklahoma about 1910. William Riley Merideth was the son of William Marion Merideth and Nancy Jane Tindle of Arkansas. His ancestral line may go back to James Meredeth, Sr. who was born about 1715 in New Kent County or Lancaster County, Virginia and died May 1790 in Surry County, North Carolina who had wife; Mildred Bagley of Surry County, North Carolina.

William Merideth Dies, Services Slated Saturday
William Riley Merideth, 92, died Thursday at his home, 219 West Ottawa. Merideth lived here for the past 54 years. He was born February 7, 1872 in Franklin County, Arkansas, and married Lou Eller Tucker at Fort Smith October 9, 1893. He was a retired farmer and Baptist minister, with membership at the High Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lou Eller, of the home; a son, Vernon, of McAlester, Five daughters, Mrs. Minnie Buse, of Cutler, California, Mrs. Jewell Whitworth, of McAlester, Mrs. Jack Loveless, of Hartshorne, Mrs. Wilma Muhn, of McAlester, Mrs. Pansey Keith, of Bell Gardens, California. A daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Merideth: 22 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Saturday in Hillcrest Baptist Church. Reverand Frank DiMiceli will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Chaney's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Lewis Traut, Haskell Goodson, Jess Goodson, John Faith, Aldolphus Nelson and Fred Poole.
